Kate Browses the Shops on Kings Road

Last week, Kate was spotted browsing the shops on Kings Road. She popped into Gap to look for jeggings and then made a stop at Pret A Manger (sandwich shops that specialize in additive-free foods www.pret.com/).

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a plaid cape from Zara's Fall 2010 collection ($129.90 and sold out) and skinny jeans.

 Update 2/3/2013

After looking at additional pictures of Kate wearing the cape, I am unsure if it's really Zara? The jury is still out...let me know what you think.

The other option is the 'Classic Glen Plaid Cape' by Orvis (originally £119.00 now on sale for £94.00).

Description from the Orvis website www.orvis.co.uk/

'Beautifully tailored with a classic silhouette and handsome faux-leather tab closure.
Front welt pockets.
One size; about 33" long.
90% polyester/10% wool.
Dry clean.
Product # (5C53)'

Kate Spotted Again on January 30th

Kate was again spotted out and about on January 30th. She popped into a Boots store in West London with your security guard in tow.

The Duchess looked stylist as always, clad in her plaid cape and chocolate Seville suede boots (£295) from Really Wild Clothing Co.

Before Kate wed William she did a brief stint modeling for Really Wild Clothing Co.

The details are unclear, but Pop Sugar reported that Kate was spotted out in London. She was again stopping in at some of her favorite stores.

She wore her black Classic Odele Sheepskin Coat ($3285) by Temperley London, her grey Tod’s D Style Bag, black tights, black Kurt Geiger Estee pumps, a black umbrella, and a black scarf.

Update 2/6/2013

I have had confirmation from the Really Wild Clothing Company that Kate wore their Seville Suede Spanish Boots in Chocolate (£295).

"Dear Nicole

Thank you for your email and I do apologise for not getting back to you sooner.

...
The image which you have linked to is showing Kate Middleton wearing our Seville Suede Spanish Boots in Chocolate http://www.reallywildclothing.co.uk/product/Suede-Spanish-Boots-in-Chocolate

Previously, Kate has modelled and briefly worked for us. I am afraid that I cannot confirm what boots that she was wearing as was not working for the company at the time.

Kate Unveils her First Official Portrait

The first official portrait of the Duchess of Cambridge was unveiled this morning at London's National Portrait Gallery.

The painting was commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery and, following Kate's suggestion, it depicts her natural, not official, persona. Award-winning artist Paul Emsley created the large head and shoulders painting of the duchess set against his trademark dark background.

William and Kate received a private viewing of the painting this morning before it went on display to the public. The couple spent 10 minutes looking at the portrait and then met Emsley, his wife Susanne and daughter Marie.

Among the guests were Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton and her brother and sister Pippa and James.

Kate shopped her closet and wore her burgundy Whistles 'Sofie Rae' dress (Autumn 2011) with a black velvet belt. She last wore this dress under the unnamed, burgundy coat by an independent British designer when she visited Newcastle in October of last year.

The 'Sofie Rae' is a stunning pure silk dress from Whistles ($135 and no longer available) in a warm seasonal burgundy, with a deep v-neckline, long sleeves and a flattering defined waist. Elegant and versatile, with a floating midi skirt and removable belt.

Completing her outfit, the Duchess wore black suede Episode ‘Angel’ heels, her ufo black clutch, her Asprey 167 Button Pendant and her bespoke Kiki McDonough green amethyst and diamond drop earrings.

Additional Information About Kate's Portrait & the Artist

The portrait is an oil on canvas and bigger than life size 1152 x 965 (45 3/8 x 38).

Paul Emsley is a Glasgow-born, South African-raised painter. Kate sat for Emsley in two sittings last May and June. The first was at Kensington Palace and the second at his studio in Bradford-upon-Avon in southwest England. He worked from photographs spent 3½ months creating the painting.

Odds & Ends

On Wednesday, January 9th, Kate celebrated her 31st birthday. She attended a London showing of Cirque du Soleil with William, her sister Pippa, brother James, and parents Carole and Michael Middleton.
