The Duke and Duchess spent their first night together as a family at Kensington Palace. This morning, they were driven away by security to spend some time at Kate's family home. William sat in the front passenger seat and Kate in the back with George his baby seat.

Kate looked fresh faced and casual in a pretty short-sleeve, knot front dress by Seraphine. The 'Blossom Knot Front Lavender Dress' retails for £50 and as of this writing is currently available in all sizes except size 14.

The Seraphine Website provides the following description:

'This chic short sleeved maternity dress is the ultimate in effortless style and will ensure that you are perfectly polished for the on the go style in minutes.
The lavender floral print follows on from this season's penchant for bold designs in a purple palette making it trouble free to work the aesthetic.
Deep V-neckline enhances your new cleavage and provides easy breastfeeding access post birth.
The self-tie design creates delicate gathers that drape effortlessly over your bump.
95% Viscose 5% Elastin'

Completing her look, the Duchess pulled her hair up into a ponytail and wore her Givenchy SGV773 sunglasses (£159).

Welcome George Alexander Louis

This just in....Baby Cambridge has a name!

It is George Alexander Louis

Kensington Palace said in a short statement:
'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis.
'The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.'

What's in a name?

  • The name George means farmer or earth worker.
  • It represents the continuity of the monarchy and remained the bookmakers' favorite.
  • Six King Georges have worn the crown throughout history.
  • There has only been one other Prince of Cambridge and he was also named George.
  • George is the fourth name of the Prince of Wales - the baby's grandfather.

The Duke of Cambridge breathed a visible sigh of relief when he placed the baby in the back sear of a waiting Range Rover. He then drove off to nearby Kensington Palace with Kate sitting by her son’s side.

The Duchess of Cambridge looked radiant in a cornflower blue bespoke crêpe de chine polka dot dress by British designer Jenny Packham. Kate has turned to this designer on numerous occasions. In a press release by the company, they said that they won’t be producing versions of the dress for sale.

The blue dress was a nod, no doubt, to her baby's gender - the same gesture made by her mother during her own visit earlier in the day.

And in a subtle tribute to Princess Diana, who wore a green spotted dress as she left the same hospital with Prince William in 1982, Kate’s dress had a similar polka dot pattern.

Completing her outfit, Kate wore her beige 'Imperia' wedges by Pied a Terre (no longer available), her Kiki McDonough citrine drop earrings and her sapphire and diamond engagement ring.

Other Tid Bits

Daily Mail/AFP/Getty Images
  • Baby Cambridge is now third in the line of succession, displacing Prince Harry to fourth and the Duke of York to fifth, although he may not take the throne for some time.

  • Palace officials have confirmed for that the couple will not have a nanny and will rely upon their families help instead.

  • At 8lb 6oz, Baby Cambridge is the heaviest future king in 100 years.
Daily Mail/Reuters

  • William confirmed that the prince was overdue when he said: ‘I will remind him of his tardiness when he is older.’

  • As of this posting, Baby Cambridge is still nameless. The Duke of Cambridge told the press, 'We're still working on a name so we will have that as soon as we can.'

The New Family Prepares to Go Home

The first clues that the Duke and Duchess would be leaving the hospital with their little prince today was the arrival of Kate's hair stylist and her assistant. Amanda Cook Tucker, arrived at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington shortly before Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton.

Amanda's aid carried an infant car seat as well as a dress beneath a protective dry-cleaning sheet. The royal stylist wheeled a suitcase.

Amanda has been cutting William and Harry's hair since they were children and often styles Kate's hair at home. We were first introduced to the royal stylist when the royal couple visited the Far East on a Diamond Jubilee Tour in September last year.

Kate has been a long-term client of the Richard Ward salon in Chelsea. When she wants her hair done in the comfort of her own house, she puts the call into Amanda.

On a side note...you may be interested in Baby Cambridge's' Infant Car Seat. It is the Britax Baby-Safe Infant Carrier car seat, which retails from £99.99 to £129.99. The car seat won the Mother & Baby award for Best Buy in the infant car seat category in 2012, and is a favorite among new parents.
